certifiedFREQ is an independent music magazine based in Texas. This page says what we collect, why we collect it, and how to make us stop. It is written in plain language on purpose.

What We Collect
Your email address, if you subscribe. That is the only thing we ask you for, and it is only used to send the weekly newsletter.
Basic analytics. Which pages get read, how long people stay, and where they arrived from. This is collected by our host, WordPress.com, and it is not used to build a profile of you.
Whatever you send us. If you email a submission, a pitch or a correction, we have your email and whatever you wrote in it. Music submissions are read, sorted and kept so we can find them again.
We do not collect payment details, we do not run accounts, and comments are turned off on this site.
What We Do Not Do
We do not sell your personal data. Not to advertisers, not to anyone. There is no arrangement under which your information leaves here in exchange for money.
We do not share your email with sponsors. A sponsor buys a placement on a page or in the newsletter. They do not get the list.
Who Else Touches Your Data
- Automattic, which runs WordPress.com. They host the site and handle the newsletter and the analytics.
- Google. Mail sent to our addresses forwards into a Gmail inbox.
- Spotify and YouTube. Where a player is embedded in a page, those companies see that your browser loaded it, and they set their own cookies. We do not control that and we cannot see what they collect.

Your Rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Texas residents have these rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. Readers in California, the EU and the UK have equivalent rights under their own laws. We do not check where you are before honouring a request, because it is simpler to just do it for everyone.
To use any of them, email hello@certifiedfreq.com with what you want. We will answer within 45 days, and usually the same week.
To leave the newsletter, click unsubscribe at the bottom of any issue. It is one click and it works immediately. You do not have to email anyone.
How Long We Keep Things
Your email stays on the list until you unsubscribe. Submissions and correspondence are kept while they are useful and cleared out periodically. Analytics are aggregate and are not tied to you.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent us their information, email us and it will be deleted.
